I hope you all had a great holiday and are ready for 2016 to be over (because I know I for sure am)! Anyway, I wanted to put this out there to everyone and just vent about transitions and changes.
I've had a teacher, mentor, and editor for the past three years. When I first met her, I provided two short stories to her and she said to me that I am definitely a storyteller but she will help me be a writer. She was being facetious, she was actually giving me a compliment. She was saying that I can spin a good story but my grammar wasn't up to snuff, and she would help me get there. I've made two short stories with her, and completed my first, second and third draft of my first novel with her and as of today, we are no longer working with each other. We aren't parting on bad terms, but her writing career is seeing another peak (this time on the small screen) and my professional (please read occupation from 9-5 that helps pay bills) life has become hectic in the past few months.
So, now, I am working on my next project solo-dolo and initially I'm feeling a little lost. Who is going to edit me and call me on my mess-ups? Right now, I am just trying to read more and just write like normal. The editing isn't the issue. I think the real issue is that she was my first reader for so long and now... nothing! Anyway, onward and upward! Thank you for letting me vent.
